Welcome to The Turf

Landlord's Ramblings

Well, here we go again! Our 19th year at The Turf - it doesn't feel like it, but when Ginny and I look back on all that we've done, the fun we have had,and the friends we have made then, yes, it does seems quite a long time!

We survived a wet and cold Easter having nearly lost our pontoon a few days earlier in gale force conditions as we attempted to bring it out of The Canal Basin and attach it to the pierhead ready for the summer. Judging by the weather at present, I think we were premature!

We continue to champion our local suppliers. Here in The South West, we are spoilt with an enviable choice of locally sourced meats, the freshest of fish, and fine fruit and vegetables, coupled with locally produced beers, wines, cyders and fruit juices. Aren't we lucky!

This years menus have been given a facelift being illustrated with some of our favourite postcards that we have received over the years from our friend Jed whilst on his travels around the world. Cheers Jed, a pint or 2 awaits!

The Children's Play Area has been rebuilt and looks great, and we are making progress, albeit slowly, with our Reedbed Sewage System. The Cycle Track from Exeter to Turf is due to continue it's way down the Estuary once, my spies tell me, agreement is reached about how it crosses the railway line at Powderham. Watch this space!

Let's hope the weather soon warms up and Ginny can get her BBQ tongs a working !
